Our HOME!!!! Yay! This was right after we had just picked this as our HOME! Yay! We are SO blessed to have gotten this AmAzInG Home! It is just adorable and feels like it was made just for us! Yay! Yup, so where that spiffy little upstairs window is, that's my laundry room! And the window downstairs is my window seat in the kitchen! VERY cool! And I don't know what kind of plants those are out from, but they're starting to get lots of blossoms! Yay! :) This is our backyard view! It is MUCH prettier in person! I'll post better pics later, bc it really is an amazing view!!! OH! And BTW, this picture was taken around 11 o'clock.........AT NIGHT!!!!! Lol! Yup, it is REALLY crazy here... but we're enjoying the REALLY long days. I TRULY have not seen a night sky yet...no stars, nothing. It's light when we go to bed at midnight and light when we wake up at 5! CRAZY!!! Truly the land of the midnight sun!!!

Our belongings have gotten lost along the way somehow...But hopefully they'll be found and arrive here in Kodiak soon! Yup yup! We are blessed beyond measure here and thank you all for the good weather prayers! It has been AMAZING here weather wise and know it's just another blessing from HIM! :) Ok, well off to fold some laundry!

The Derton's Have Arrived in the Last Frontier!!!

WoW!!! I am happy to announce that we have arrived on Kodiak Island! Woohoo! It feels like it's taken forever to get here...BUT WE'RE HERE!!! We had an amazing journey up through the Yukon territory and on the ALCAN highway... it was a trip truly anointed by God!!! (I will give more details in later posts) We were also told to be prepared to live in a hotel for up to a month when we arrived on the island because housing is not normally available...But God is AMAZING and about a half hour after arriving on the Emerald Isle we walked into our beautiful new home! It is the cutest most perfect place for our little family! Rascal has a great little yard, we're about a half mile from BOTH of our work places, it's 2 story(like we'd prayed for), it is NOT a four-plex, it's adorable(!), and we overlook the OCEAN in our BACKYARD!!! I LOVE IT!!! :) I am just constantly amazed at how GOOD and AWESOME our God is! Also, we already have a church family! Yay! It is the Kodiak Assembly of God, and we are just thrilled to be there and getting involved! We have some AWESOME new friends too! WooHoo! Ty, Jenny and their family are the youth pastors at the church, and are just great people that we are blessed to have the opportunity to know!!! Both Brandon and I will start work this Monday! Brandon will be putting in some long hours bc the boathouse opens May 15th...everyone here on base is very excited bc that's where you get to rent the boats you can take out fishing! AND I will be working at the pool here! WoW! I never really expected to be around the pool atmosphere again, but here I am and I am glad of it! It was such a huge part of my life and I look forward to sharing my experience with others! We did get our mailing address! Yay! I'm not sure if I should put it on here though...who knows if some creep is reading this... :). Sooo... please email me @ bcderton@yahoo.com and I would LOVE love LOVE to give it to you! Also, please start planning your trips to visit now! :) We are anxious to get visitors already! We just cannot wait to share all of this beauty with everyone!!! Well, I'm sorry this is the first post in SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long and it's gonna be so short, but I've got to study some lifeguard material(bc it's been SO long and I'm getting old so my memory is fading...lol.) Quick update!

Hello All!
So very sorry that it has taken me this long to update! We have safely made it down to Arizona...sadly we were unable to make it iver to Idaho because of unsafe weather conditions. Silly snow... we've decided we really like our warm weather and are praying for our next station to be in a warm place! But we made it down to AZ in 27 hours!!! Yikes...but it went really well and baby Rascal did great riding on my lap! We had a WONDERFUL first anniversay! It is truely amazing that we ahve been married a whole year! Time flies when you're havin fun!!! We are truely blessed to be married to each other and look forward to a lifetime of happiness together!!! :) Please pray that the next 3 months go by SO VERY FAST!!! Brandon leaves for school on Sunday morning and I am kinda starting to really freak out... yup. Really . Just please pray that time passes quickly. Thank you! I know it's late...but still wanted to say Happy Birthday Jesus and Merry Christmas to everyone! Brandon and I were blessed to have our first Christmas together yesterday! It was a bit sad to not be around our wonderful family, but we made the best of it here on our own! We also had to move on Christmas, so that took up most of our day! Different, but still good. We discovered that EVERYTHING in Port Angeles is closed on Christmas! We were quite hungry from our 3 hour drive into town, but the ONLY thing that was open was 1 Safeway (out of 3!) and we got there 5 minutes before it closed!!! Yikes! So we were able to get some sandwiches...but they sure made us miss some of Aunt Stephani's meatballs and lasagna! Mmmm.....yummy! We also ran into some pretty rotten weather while we were pulling the Uhaul. It was pretty scary being on a very desolate road with only abandoned cars, no snow plows to be found, pulling a uhaul, and heavy snowfall!!! Definitely not what we're used to! But we made it ok! It just delayed us a bit and we ended up taking 3 days instead of two... We had lots of little adventures! Lol...one was after we dropped off the uhaul trailer we were backing up after leaving it, when we saw the trailer start to roll!... it was headed straight for a uhaul truck!!! AHHH...so Brandon tries to quickly put it in park, but puts in in reverse...fixes that, scrambles out...and slips HARD on the ice...gets up and runs to the trailer RIGHT before it hits the other truck! Yikes!!! For some reason I thought that it was the funniest thing that i've ever seen! lol! We both laughed for quite a while over it! We keep ourselves entertained pretty well out here! lol! I was able to snap some great pics while logging our many hours in the truck! Enjoy and hope everyone had a blessed and wonderful Christmas!!! With love ~ Brandon, Cortney, and Rascal

I was making a snow angel and this is when Rascal HAD to sit!!! LOL! We love this little guy!!!

Well, as you can tell we are enjoying our little rare blizzard here in Neah Bay! Some of these are from last night and some are from this morning. It let up enough to take these fun pictures! Hope you have fun seeing them, because we sure had fun taking them! Practically the whole base was watching us in our backyard having a blast like little kiddos! We've gotten a couple feet with like 4 foot embankments! I love it! Rascal loved it at first, but after Brandon throwing snowballs at him... he tucked his little tail between his legs and wanted back inside. lol! We've decided to just enjoy the weather, and not dread too much what this means for our move. Our uhaul rental has been pushed back from tomorrow, and we'll just wait to see when we'll be able to leave the base! As of right now, we're definately not going anywhere! We're snowed in!!! What a change from back home...
